01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Retroto brings together retort curries from across Japan. Choose one that catches your eye, add rice and enjoy it in the shop. One visitor enjoyed a spicy curry with generous pieces of pork; exploring the differences in ingredients and regional styles is part of the experience. The menu lists Kurokaba beef curry at 1,480 yen and pork belly cartilage (paika) curry at 1,020 yen. There is also yuba curry (1,080 yen), described as generously filled with yuba and made without animal-derived ingredients or chemical seasonings—a different option from the meat curries.

For dessert, try the handmade nostalgic pudding, made with rich milk, cream, eggs and sugar. The menu describes it as smooth and gently flavoured, and a visitor also enjoyed its old-fashioned character. The café menu includes fluffy, moist French toast soaked in egg and milk and served with rich vanilla ice cream. Cream soda is available in a choice of colours and flavours: melon, ramune or strawberry.
